Sexual Heath and Therapy What sexual problems and dysfunctions appropriate for therapy?Sexual dysfunction is defined as the inability of a person or couple to experience and maintain a satisfying and well functioning sex life. Sexual dysfunctions may include premature ejaculation, inability to achieve orgasm, painful intercourse, fear of intimacy or touch, guilt and shame around sexual issues, body image, and lack of sexual desire. Any of the above problems can lead to lower self esteem which will usually further exasperates the issues. In therapy emphasis is placed on psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral
therapy and behavioral sex therapy, with most individual and relationship
issues the therapy successfully. Sex therapy encompasses sex help for
individuals, couples who are married or not, and whose sexual orientation
may be that of heterosexual, gay or lesbian. |
